China's coal consumption surpassed half of the global average last year

BP Petroleum released the “2013 World Energy Statistical Yearbook” in Beijing yesterday. Last year, China’s coal consumption exceeded half of the world’s (accounting for 50.22%) for the first time.

The "Yearbook" also shows that in 2012, the growth rate of global energy consumption decreased from 2.4% in the previous year to 1.8%. Among them, the net growth of global energy consumption all comes from emerging economies, and China and India account for nearly 90% of the total growth.
