This paper combines the information development of NX important user Jinan Casting and Forging Research Institute, and analyzes the real problems in traditional CAD applications, and introduces the effective management of SolidWorks and other CAD product data by Dongpu Software PLDM system. First, the drawbacks of traditional CAD application and management As a global mainstream CAD tool, SolidWorks has been widely promoted in various fields. Obviously, the application of CAD system will enable enterprises to have great technological progress and good benefits. But the introduction of CAD alone, only as a drawing tool, is not economical, and even brings negative effects. Because CAD is a discrete system. Due to the differences in file formats and application environments that are supported, it is difficult to exchange information, resulting in a reduction in information sharing. The large-scale relational database currently used is not easy to integrate and support the CAD/CAM process, and it is impossible to realize various types of information integration based on CAD/CAPP/CAM. Based on these factors, the company has produced a large number of electronic drawings in the CAD application process. The original manual drawing data management system is far from being able to adapt to the innovation brought by CAD technology. The old management mode has hindered the development of the enterprise. For example, the following questions: (1), a large number of graphic files have been accumulated for a long time, and the drawing management is performed by hand only, and the work is very cumbersome. (2) The electronic version of the drawings is stored in a scattered manner and is kept in the hands of technicians. It is difficult to find and browse technical data. Product design data cannot be shared, and product drawings with similarity cannot be quickly queried; 2. (7) Product information such as product design drawings, process documents, technical documents, product experimental data, etc. describing the product cannot be easily obtained. (8) The reuse rate of design resources is low. Due to the lack of effective management of existing mature products and design resources, the utilization rate of the original design resources is too low, and the repetitive workload is large. One of the better ways to solve these problems fundamentally is to use the PDM system, that is, to realize the unified platform for informationization through PDM. PDM is the technology most closely related to the production of enterprises.
