World Development of Biofuels

In 1978, the International Energy Agency established a bioenergy branch to promote research and cooperation in bioenergy between countries and regions. Then, the United Nations established the Biofuels Forum, which was initiated by Brazil, China, India, South Africa, the United States, and the European Union. At present, Brazil, the United States, France, Sweden and Germany are the leading countries in the world in the development of biofuels. In addition, it is worth mentioning that Russia, with 22% of the world's forest resources, will become an important supplier of solid biofuel feedstock.

As early as 2008, biofuels accounted for 1.8% of global fuel, and this figure is currently growing rapidly. In the research and investment of biofuels, it has reached 400 million U.S. dollars in 2007. According to the International Energy Agency, biofuels have great potential and will account for a quarter of global fuel by 2050.
