“Upgrading the model project to the benchmark for solid waste treatment in our city”

The Huangyan District Solid Waste Comprehensive Treatment Center was put into use in December 2005. At that time, the designed landfill capacity was 2.61 million cubic meters, and the designed daily processing scale was 200-400 tons. However, with the increase of the local population and the improvement of the living standards of the citizens, the amount of garbage generated has also increased greatly. To this end, Huangyan District introduced Hangzhou's advanced landfill management experience, and the sanitation operation launched a new market-oriented model. On April 3, 2008, they signed a tot project agreement with Hangzhou Solid Waste Treatment Co., Ltd. to allow the company to enter the Huangyan landfill for operation and management. The agreement lasted for 20 years. Wang Jun and Chen Tianfeng, who were originally working in Hangzhou, were sent to Huangyan. They were as busy as “migrant birds” throughout the year and continued to travel to and from the two places.

By 2015, the daily average landfill disposal capacity of Huangyan Landfill will reach 700 tons. Especially in recent years, with the increasing amount of garbage in the Huangyan area, about 1.5 million tons of garbage has been landfilled under the landfill site. Among them, domestic garbage contains organic matter such as humus, and after a short period of time after landfill, a large amount of biogas is generated. Its main components are ch4 (methane), co2 (carbon dioxide), and other trace components, of which methane content is 40%-60%.

The odor emitted by the landfill can be uncomfortable. If these gases are not recycled properly, they can be directly discharged to the site, causing damage to the surrounding environment and personnel. In order to effectively avoid the environmental hazards caused by landfill biogas, improve the local power supply structure, and alleviate the contradiction between power supply and demand, Huangyan District Environmental Sanitation Management Office set up a biogas power generation project.

The project was submitted for approval in August 2015 and officially started on December 30 of the same year. The site is located in the solid waste comprehensive treatment center of Huangyan District, covering an area of ​​2,448.92 square meters. The total investment is estimated to be about 21,180,500 yuan. The total construction area is 660.55 square meters, the main buildings are gas-water separation wells, pre-treatment sheds and generator sets, and control rooms. At the same time, it also supports the construction of related pipeline projects such as water supply and drainage, electric power, roads and greening.

“Biogas power generation will be put into use in June this year. The total installed capacity of the project is 2000 kW.
