High-voltage electrical safety knowledge

In high-voltage electrical product samples, drawings, technical documents, factory inspection reports, type test reports, instructions for use and product brand names, various terminology are often used, which indicate the structural characteristics, technical performance and use environment of the products. Understanding and mastering these terms can bring a lot of convenience to the work. Now, the terminology commonly used in high-voltage electrical appliances is introduced.

First, high voltage switchgear terminology

1. High-voltage switch - rated voltage 1kV and above is mainly used to break and close the electrical circuit of the conductive loop.

2. High-voltage switchgear - a general term for high-voltage switches and control, measurement, protection, regulating devices, and accessories such as accessories, housings and supports, and their electrical and mechanical connections.

3. Indoor high-voltage switchgear - does not have the performance of wind, rain, snow, ice and thick frost, suitable for installation in high-voltage switchgear used in construction sites.

4. Outdoor high-voltage switchgear - can withstand the effects of wind, rain, snow, pollution, condensation, ice and thick frost, suitable for high-voltage switchgear installed in the open air.

5. Metal-enclosed switchgear; switchgear - switchgear that is completely enclosed by a grounded metal casing, except for the incoming and outgoing wires.

6. Skid-mounted metal-enclosed switchgear—a metal-enclosed switchgear that is housed in a compartment separated by a grounded metal baffle, the main components (such as circuit breakers, transformers, busbars, etc.).

7. Spacer or metal-enclosed switchgear – like armored metal-enclosed switchgear, some of its components are also housed in separate compartments, but with one or more non-metallic barriers that meet certain levels of protection.

8. Box-type metal-enclosed switchgear - metal-enclosed switchgear other than armored, space-sealed metal-enclosed switchgear.

9. Inflatable metal-enclosed switchgear - A metal-enclosed switchgear with one of the following pressure systems for protecting gas pressure in the compartment of a metal-enclosed switchgear.

a. Controllable pressure system; b. Closed pressure system; c. Sealed pressure system.

10. Insulated enclosed switchgear - except for the incoming and outgoing wires, other switchgears that are completely enclosed by the insulated casing.

11. Combination electrical equipment - A device that combines two or more high-voltage electrical appliances into an organic whole according to the main wiring requirements of the power system, and the electrical appliances still maintain the original prescribed functions.

12. Gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear—closed-type combination electrical appliances, at least some of which are metal-enclosed switchgear that uses a gas above atmospheric pressure as an insulating medium.

13. Circuit breakers - Switching devices that can close, load, and interrupt the normal current of the operating circuit, and can also close, carry and break the specified overload current (including short-circuit current) within the specified time.

14. SF6 circuit breaker—a circuit breaker that is closed and opened in the sulphur hexafluoride gas.

15. Vacuum circuit breaker—A circuit breaker that closes and breaks the contacts in a vacuum.

16. Isolation switch——In the position of the position, the insulation distance between the contacts meets the specified requirements and the obvious disconnection mark; in the combined position, it can carry the current under the normal loop condition and the abnormal condition within the specified time (such as short circuit) Current switching device.

17. Grounding Switch - A mechanical switching device used to ground the circuit. Under abnormal conditions (such as short circuit, the specified abnormal current can be carried within the specified time; under normal loop conditions, current is not required to be carried.

18. Load switch - A switching device that can close, carry and break current under normal circuit conditions and carry current for a specified period of time under specified abnormal loop conditions (eg short circuit conditions).

19. Contactor - Except for manual operation, there is only one rest position, which can close, load and break the normal current and the specified overload current breaking and closing device.

20. Fuse - When the current exceeds a specified value for a certain period of time, it is melted by the heat generated by itself to break the switching device of the circuit.

21. Current-Limit Fuse - A fuse that limits its current to a lower than expected current peak with its own function when operating within the specified current range.

22. Jet Fuse - A fuse that extinguishes an arc by the injection of gas from the arc energy.

23. Drop-out fuses - After the action, the load-carrying parts are automatically dropped, forming a fuse for the fracture.

24. Arrester - A protective device that limits overvoltage and is used to protect the insulation of the equipment from overvoltages.

25. Gapless Metal Oxide Arresters - Arresters consisting of series and/or parallel non-linear metal oxide resistors with no or series discharge gaps.

26. Composite jacket gapless metal oxide surge arrester - a gapless arrester consisting of a non-linear metal oxide resistor and corresponding components and having a jacket of composite insulation.
