According to statistics, in January, Taizhou's shoe exports were mainly traded in general, with an export value of $99.01 million, an increase of 48.2% year-on-year, and a total of 32.61 million pairs of shoes exported, valued at $100 million, an increase of 27.3% and 48.6% year-on-year respectively. The monthly export volume hit a record high; the private sector is the main export force, with a total export volume of 66.52 million U.S. dollars. Judging from the export varieties, the finished products are mainly footwear made of plastic or rubber uppers, with exports of 95.75 million US dollars, accounting for 96% of the total footwear exports in the city during the same period. The average export price rose slightly, averaging US$3.1 per pair, up 18% year-on-year.

According to customs officials, since the beginning of this year, with the economic recovery of major economies such as Europe and the United States, local consumer spending has further increased, and the export of shoes to Europe and the United States in Taizhou has maintained a steady growth. At the same time, the development of emerging export markets such as ASEAN and Latin America has also greatly stimulated the city’s shoe exports.

However, behind the good export situation, the export of shoes in Taizhou still faces many hidden concerns. For example, since the beginning of this year, with the recovery of the international and domestic economies, there have been serious shortages of workers in the coastal areas and the interior of China, and workers’ wages have risen. In addition, the international oil price is still operating at a high level in the recent period, driving up the prices of the main raw materials for rubber and other footwear. The existence of these factors has further increased the cost pressure on Taizhou shoe manufacturers.

In this regard, the industry suggested that the relevant departments should give full play to the industry association's coordination, organizational functions, regulate the export behavior of shoe enterprises, guide them to use legal means to actively respond to trade barriers, and urge them to pay close attention to the laws and regulations of the importing countries, in time to grasp The latest testing standards and specifications for footwear products improve their own early warning capabilities. Relevant companies must strengthen scientific and technological investment and innovation, adjust industrial structure, increase product levels, and establish a brand image.
