Researchers from institutions such as Hyogo University of Education and Tokyo Institute of Technology used neutron ray to irradiate graphite in an experimental reactor, followed by impacting graphite with a metal sheet moving at a speed of 1.7 km per second, and then applying high temperature and high pressure to the graphite. . The researchers used light to illuminate and analyze the particles, and found that the crystal particles were randomly arranged and oriented differently, forming a synthetic diamond whose crystal particles were small enough to reach the limit.
