New technology may realize wireless power supply of solar power plants

Minna-Denryoku is working hard to implement a service that can send and receive power wirelessly.

This service requires a technology that can accurately support multiple transmissions and receptions, and has a sufficiently high security. Minna-Denryoku cooperated with Kyoto University to start the development of testing technology concepts, and has jointly applied for related patents.

As far as mobile communication is concerned, even if the mobile device moves, the communication can be continued by replacing the base station. Minna-Denryoku said that the technology that mobile devices use to change access points can become one of the core technologies for wireless power transmission.

For example, in the case of mobile power transmitters / receivers such as mobile devices, electric vehicles (EVs), and drones, appropriate power supply can be achieved by replacing the power receivers and transmitters.

Solar power plants that have completed the survival purchase period for the fittest are expected to be used for self-use and power supply to local public-private joint ventures (generators and suppliers). In addition, if this new technology is commercialized, it will be possible to power nearby electric cars, drones and mobile devices, which means new buyers of electricity.

If electric vehicles and drones can use solar power plants distributed throughout Japan as charging stations, then they can be free from driving range, flight distance, time, etc. The decentralized power resources help promote the use of such mobile power equipment.

Minna-Denryoku and Ken Umeno, a professor at the Graduate School of Informatics at Kyoto University, are working together on this research. Umeno has been committed to the development of "Chaotic CDMA", which involves multiple transmissions, receptions, and security between multiple users.

Based on Umeno's technology, the code is added to the power supply for wireless transmission and reception between multiple transmitters and multiple receivers. In addition to the password, the code also has data such as power supplier, receiver, power, power supply, transaction price, and power supply priority. Realize the transaction of wireless power supply and payment.

Minna-Denryoku said that the code added to the power supply can only be decoded by the designated power supplier, so that it can prevent "interference" and security problems caused by multiple power transmissions in the air. The password can identify the power supply.

Minna-Denryoku and Umeno refer to this technical concept as "electricity 5G".
