Anti-Sucking Mask Measured One-Off More Effectively

Faced with the frequent threat of PM2.5, masks are not more expensive and more complex and better. The Consumers Association of China and the Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee jointly announced the results of the "Comparative Tests on the Protective Performance of 37 Mask Products." The Quality Supervision Bureau of the Municipality recently released monitoring results on the quality and safety risks of mask products. The two results indicate that many mask filters have been effective. Exaggerated, it is better to choose "one-time use" for snoring masks.

Disposable masks are better

Recently, the China Consumers Association conducted a comparative test on masks sold locally by consumers associations (committees) in Shanghai, Anhui, Chongqing, Ningbo, and Harbin.

The comparative test samples were collected from Beijing, Shanghai, Hefei, Chongqing, Ningbo, and Harbin, including six shopping malls, supermarkets, medical shops, labor protection stores, wholesale markets, and corresponding shopping sites. A total of 37 samples were purchased, involving 28 Home masks production and distribution companies; mask prices from each 0.58 yuan to 199 yuan each.

The comparative test tests the “filter efficiency” to test the filtering effect of different masks on particulate matter. "Filter efficiency" refers to the percentage of particulate matter removed by the mask under the specified experimental conditions.

One of the masks currently available to consumers is a disposable mask made of a non-woven material having filtering properties, and the other is an exchangeable filter type mask. The comparative test results show that the filtering effect of the disposable mask is generally better than that of the replaceable filter type mask.

Although the filter material in the replaceable filter-type mask has a certain filtering effect on the particles, the area of the filter is smaller than the overall area of the mask, allowing the gas to enter the mask through the cloth around the filter to reduce the filtering effect. The insertion of the filter also increases respiratory resistance. Relative to disposable face masks, exchangeable filter-type masks are also slightly more expensive.

Variety of masks exaggerated

The municipal quality supervision department recently stated that the current medical protective masks and industrial dust masks all have national standards, while other types of masks have relatively confusing quality standards. These masks, which are nominally protective, are used to implement medical respirator standards, some perform industrial dust mask standards, and some do not have any implementation standards.

To this end, the Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau of the day before the city's production, sales (including network sales) nominal "PM2.5 protection", "isolated dust", "prevention" and other functions of mask products to carry out quality and safety risk monitoring, a total of Sample 38 batches were collected to cover the major brands produced and sold in the city.

In the monitoring test of the mask filtration efficiency most concerned by consumers, the measured value of 24 batches of mask filtering efficiency is lower than the minimum requirement specified by the national standard of 90%; the measured value of the filtering efficiency of a batch of masks is lower than that indicated in the packaging. 95% of the 21 batches of product labels are not labeled with filter grades; 6 batches of masks are not labelled with product implementation standards.

Among them, the measurement efficiency of Yixin SC600C ordinary polyester dust mask distributed by Jinjiang Metro Putuo Division was 0.

"North Korea" Mask Alleged Information Falsification

In addition to quality issues, there have also been branded mask brands suspected of information fraud.

In the comparison experiment before the Consumers Association, the detection results of the two “CM Chaomei” masks were poor dustproof effect and large respiratory resistance. They were identified as “forfeiture products” and have now been transferred to relevant departments for further investigation.

In fact, at the end of 2013, a well-known environmental volunteer on the Internet had already focused on the "North Korea" mask. The volunteer purchased a 32 yuan/dust respirator mask from the brand and found that the packaging was printed with words such as “National Emergency Reserving Unit” and “N95”. The material was marked as bamboo fiber.

The environmental volunteer said that neither bamboo fiber nor cotton would prevent PM2.5. The activated carbon filter of the mask “supplied” also has almost no protective effect on PM2.5. In use, it will also cause particles of smaller particles to be inhaled by the human body to cause secondary pollution. The enclosed "anti-influenza N95 filter" blocks breathing.

This mask, which sells nearly 10,000 pieces a month on a shopping site, has asked the above environmental volunteers: “Chaomei Company, where is your moral bottom line?”

â–  Mask purchase and wear tips

1. When the concentration of particulate matter is predicted to reach the level of pollution, anti-fog and smog masks should be worn when traveling. At present, the masks with better anti-fog and haze effects are disposable. When a feeling of odor or a feeling of breathing is felt in a mask, the mask must be replaced.

2. Wear masks that vary from person to person. People with respiratory diseases or older people should not wear masks that have more resistance. Choose a mask with an exhalation valve.

Children should not wear masks too long. The size of the mask should suit the child's face. The respiratory resistance of the mask should not be too large. Parents can remind children to replace masks when they are uncomfortable.

3. The environment inside the mask is very suitable for bacterial growth, so it must be regularly cleaned and disinfected. If you wear a mask during the exercise, it is recommended to use less respiratory resistance so that moisture and carbon dioxide can be exhaled in time.
