India's natural rubber production decline in May

According to foreign news on June 10, the Indian Rubber Board estimated on Tuesday that India's natural rubber production declined in May and consumption rose slightly.

Natural rubber production fell by 10% year-on-year to 53,000 tons, compared with 59,000 tons in the same period last year. Consumption rose slightly to 83,500 tons, compared with 81,325 tons in the same period last year.

As foreign rubber prices continued to decline, they were very attractive to rubber-dependent manufacturers, and rubber imports jumped in May. According to estimates from the Rubber Bureau, India's rubber imports jumped by 64% to 34,419 tons in May this year.

The Rubber Bureau predicts that in the first three months of fiscal 2014-2015, India's total rubber imports will soar by 70% over the same period of last year.

India imports rubber mainly from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.
