Dow's six breakthrough technologies won the "Invented Oscar" Award

HC Plastics News:

On November 16, 2018, Dow's six breakthrough technologies won the 2018 R&D 100 Award, including a special recognition award. This year is the seventh consecutive year that Dow products have been selected for the "R&D 100 Awards" list. It is also the first in the corporate world after 2017. The R&D 100 Awards is the iconic annual award of R&D Magazine and is recognized as the "Inventor's Oscar" to select and celebrate the 100 most revolutionary technologies in the world that have been launched in the past year.

This year's R&D100 Awards Dow Award-winning Technology List

1, AQUACHILLTM cooling coating

This aqueous phase change material layer can be used in mattress materials and other cooling applications to maximize initial and subsequent cooling while achieving excellent breathability, durability, adhesion and low odor.

2, DOWSILTM SE9160 adhesive

This is a one-component silicone adhesive with mixed cure properties (UV cure and secondary wet cure) and provides reliable water and dust resistance for PCB system components. It optimizes the dispensing process and provides controlled flow and repairability to help equipment manufacturers save money.

3, ECOFASTTM Pure environmental textile processing technology

This groundbreaking technology allows unique and vibrant colors to reside in cotton fabrics while reducing the amount of water, energy, dyes and chemicals used in the dyeing process. By implementing zero-planning standards for the ZDHC roadmap, this patented pre-treatment technology helps to promote efficient and sustainable development in the apparel industry, with 90% reduction in chemicals and 50% water use. ECOFASTTM Pure is compatible with reactive, direct and acid dyes and is used in knitted and woven fabrics, denim and apparel.

4, ENGAGETM polyolefin elastomer

As the global PV market continues to grow, the choice of materials is a key element in the continued success of PV module manufacturers. ENGAGETM Polyolefin Elastomer (POE) is the ideal material for photovoltaic packaging films, delivering outstanding long-term performance and reliability while reducing overall cost.

5, biaxially stretched polyethylene (TF-BOPE)

This biaxially oriented polyethylene (TF-BOPE), led by the Asia Pacific region, is a revolutionary product in the Dow INNATETM precision packaging resin family. Compared to conventional polyethylene (PE) films, TF-BOPE films have higher mechanical properties and material rigidity, better optical and printing properties. The haze of TF-BOPE film is only one-fifth of that of ordinary PE film; it has twice the impact strength of ordinary PE film, three times the puncture resistance, three times the tensile strength and twice the pull. Die modulus.

VORARADTM Downhole Radiation Storage Technology received a special recognition award in the Green Technology Awards category. Resin coated sand with breakthrough VORARADTM downhole radium storage technology can improve hydraulic cracking and reduce wastewater treatment, and protect the environment.

Since 1963, the "R&D 100 Awards" has recognized revolutionary new technologies introduced to the market. Past awards include precision testing equipment, innovative new materials, breakthroughs in chemistry, biomedical products, consumer products and renewable energy.
